If your Wednesday evenings aren’t as fun as you want them to be and wine Wednesday at your neighbor’s house no longer sounds appealing, then give Coffee Collaborative Open Mic Night a shot (pun intended).
Beginning at 7 pm, you’ll not only hear Santa Barbara’s newest and up and coming musicians but some aspiring comedians as well.
The Coffee Collaborative is located on the corner of Pardall Rd and Embarcadero del Mar in upbeat Isla Vista. Hosted by different local musicians each week, there is always something new that each host brings to the table, including a new pieces of music or some treats. With varieties of music ranging from Country and Alternative to cool jazz, there’s something for everyone Another thing that makes Cafe Colab different from other comedy clubs is they even give aspiring comedians a shot to try out their new jokes on a real audience.
The setup of Open Mic is simple and casual.
First, the person hosting is also typically scheduled to play at sometime during the night. They provide a sign-up sheet and whoever wants to perform just has to add their name to the list. That’s it! Anybody can give their music or stand-up a shot!
During the Open Mic Night, Coffee Collaborative opens their entire coffee and tea bar up. Although the Collaborative is most known for their delicious espresso, they also have numerous teas to chose from. This can be especially helpful for the person looking to have something to sip on while not having the late-night jitters that espresso can bring.
Depending on how many people are performing, the night can last anywhere from 2 to 2.5 hours. Although you can come and go as you please, it’s best not to do it in the middle of somebody’s performance. If it’s a comedian, they may make fun of you as your walk out the door!
So if you’re interested in trying out that new stand-up routine, dropping a beat or just listening to others, head on down to Cafe Collaborative this Wednesday at 7:00 PM!
Hope to see you there!
